In A Simplified Form

I rearranged my room today. Like at 4:00 a.m. It seemed like a good idea, and I had been wanting to do it for some time. I only moved one of my wall decorations, because it only felt appropriate that the American flag should always be overlooking my bed. I decided today, that when I have lots of extra money to spend, I’m buying 2 more flags — the Croatia flag and a Missouri state flag. Both are technically my heritage, since I’m 1/4 Croatian and I’ve lived in Missouri my entire life. (more…)

My Summer List

I have been meaning to write this down somewhere, and what better place to do it than here? I have seen 9 movies this summer since moving to Kansas City, and I have been wanting to put them in order of how much I liked them. Here goes nothing. (more…)

Inceptionally Salty

So, I have been neglecting my blog a lot. Typical. But, actually, the past two weeks were very eventful, so I have at least some small excuse. Within the last two weeks, I got a job, saw four movies, including the best movie of the summer (three times), changed my Twitter name, and much more. My little brother visited again two weekends ago, but didn’t get to come back. I guess I will now try to recap everything exciting that has been happening. (more…)

Pretty Bubbles in the Air

Oh, yes they did. James, Wade, and Bosh will all be playing for the Miami Heat next season.

So, I haven’t blogged in a week. So what? I will start off by addressing what my entire last post was about. I am completely excited and in favor of LeBron James coming to South Beach to play for the Miami Heat. In the events that have transpired since then, I feel like LeBron has come out a lot better than people originally thought. He will team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and over the past few days, they have re-signed Udonis Haslem and added Mike Miller and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Pat Riley has begun to fill in the blanks for the rest of the team, and has done a great job so far. Getting Big Z to come down to Miami with LeBron was a big win for them. First of all, because it kind’ve slaps Dan Gilbert in the face after making an ass out of himself over LeBron leaving, plus, it is great for the Heat. They get a player who is familiar with LeBron and brings a lot of talent and experience to the table. I think it is safe to say that I will watch more NBA this season than ever before. (more…)

The South Beach Super Team

We've seen them together for Team USA. Will we see them together in Miami?

I honestly do not care where LeBron James ends up. He will still be my favorite player in the NBA, and he will still be the best player in basketball. I do think it would be absolutely insane if he ends up in Miami with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Bosh and Wade announced this morning that they would be joining each other next year in Miami. (more…)

On the Move

So, for those few people who have actually seen my blog before, I have gone with a new layout. I always have my eyes open for different themes to use, and I think I have found one that I like that I will keep for a long time. I had a brief stint with Tumblr last week, before deciding WordPress was much better, and while searching for stuff for Tumblr, I found the picture that I am now using for my header now. I think it looks awesome, and goes well with the background in this theme. I like a theme with some color and I always have to have something with a header and two columns. This one has the optional right hand column, so if you’re not into having widgets on the side, it works with you. Very cool. (more…)

In Extra Time

So, it’s obviously been a very long time since I’ve updated. A lot has changed for me in the last few weeks. One week ago today, I moved in with my aunt in Kansas City. She lives about four miles west of Liberty off of 152. I have been trying for a week to get a job, with no luck, even though a lot of people say they are hiring. With everything moving to the internet, applications are all online and very impersonal, so I don’t really know what my status is with any of the ~25 applications I have out right now. I need to be making money, but it’s been nice relaxing and hanging out with my aunt the last week. We decided the first night that we would go on Weight Watchers, and I’ve had a lot of success with it. I have actually lost 8 lbs so far, and we have been walking every evening at a park nearby her house. My room is really big and the closet is huge. It’s a walk-in with racks on both sides, and I don’t even come close to filling it up. I have my own bathroom and the whole downstairs to myself, which includes a living room, couch, two chairs, TV, a counter with a sink and a bunch of cabinets, and a mini-fridge. I’d say I have a pretty sweet setup. (more…)

The Final Showdown

It is officially Sunday now, so this is the day that I am returning to Columbia, ending Spring Break. Overall, I would say it was a pretty successful Spring Break — two books read, countless movies watched, and I didn’t even have to play video games that much to keep me entertained. Trevor is asleep while I am blogging again, and I will probably be pissed at myself for staying up so late, because we have to get up early for church tomorrow. Then, most of Mom’s side of the family is coming up for Easter lunch and I have to find a suitable time shortly thereafter to sneak out and head back down to Columbia. (more…)

Release the Kraken

Another typical Spring Break day. I slept until almost noon, and most of the day consisted of watching TV/movies with my little brother and playing video games. Yeah, I know. Really exciting. But, the night was at least somewhat interesting, and now I am up late because I couldn’t sleep, so I guess I will blog it up.

Mom and Dad went to St. Joe at some point during the afternoon and brought back Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, which was pretty much amazing, not going to lie. Once we had both woken up, Trevor and I went through the movies I had TiVo’d this week and we knocked out a couple. (more…)

Breaking Some Spring

So, I realize that I haven’t blogged in forever, but whatever. Currently, I am sitting downstairs at my home in Stanberry, sitting at my Dad’s desk. Everyone else just went to bed, but of course, I am conditioned to stay up late at college, and everyone here gets up in the morning to go to school, so they’re in bed by at least 11 every night. It’s kind’ve annoying, but then again I can’t blame them. Plus, I get to sleep in as late as I want, meaning I stay up as late as I want, so that’s nice.

Like I said, I’m in Stanberry, and that is because it is Spring Break at school and I will be here until Sunday. Our family easter gathering is at my Aunt Tami’s in Kansas City this year, so we’re going down there on Sunday, and I’m assuming I will take a separate car and drive to Columbia by myself afterwards. One Foot Out The Door

So, I have one post on my blog that continually has like 10-20 views a day, for some odd reason. I found out today that it is because some website called Cranial.com, which I’m still not entirely sure of what it’s function is, has different pages of information for random things, similar to a Wikipedia. Anyway, their Lord of the Rings: Return of the King page uses the picture that I used in the previously mentioned blog post, and it is linked to my page. So, Cranial.com has been giving me a link to my blog that otherwise nobody else would read it. (more…)

With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept

I usually listen to Explosions in the Sky when I study. Explosions in the Sky is a strictly instrumental band from Texas, and they are most well known for having done the entire soundtrack for the movie Friday Night Lights and its TV show spin-off. Since they are purely instrumental (meaning, there is no vocal part), it is easy for me to study with it playing since I’m not trying to listen to the words in a song, and it’s just perfect background music. They are also very good to listen to when you are just simply listening to music. They play very well, and they can hold my attention without lyrics. I have heard that they are incredible live performers and deliver awesome, passionate shows. I would love to see them sometime. (more…)

Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean

Very few times since starting college have I had a teacher that I actually like listening to for the full class period and I don’t really ever get bored. I’m thankful that this semester, I have one of those teachers. Dr. Ronci in my Postmodern American Poetry class is probably the best speaker I’ve ever had for a teacher. I am not sure if it’s his voice, his choice to swear at will, the material he talks about, or all of it, but I could sit there and listen to him for a few hours no problem. On top of it all, he’s hilarious and tells awesome stories of his undergrad and post grad days (he’s probably around 55-60 years old). Today, however he tells us how he’s also a monk, which is just comical considering how he can’t help but go two sentences without dropping an F-bomb. (more…)

Gearing Back Up

So, a certain friend of mine named Andy keeps hassling me to update my blog, so I guess I will oblige him. Currently, I am sitting at Ashley’s house on the couch. Mizzou just capped off a 65-56 win against Iowa State at home. Ash put Hali to bed a little bit ago, and I was very surprised that she went right to sleep and didn’t give Ashley any trouble.

She’s really gotten big, and she is so smart. Earlier, Ashley had her point out a bunch of body parts on her little baby doll, and she knew where everything was and even put on her baby’s socks and changed her diaper. It always amuses me that babies are always obsessed with their baby dolls. Hali’s new thing is to change her baby’s diaper all the time, which is funny because she has been giving Ashley a lot of trouble lately when she has to change her diaper. (more…)

Sitting in Rows, Bowing Their Heads.

What a day, what a day. Not really, I’ve actually been bored out of my mind all day. I’m currently sitting on my couch watching SportsCenter and listening to some music. The pledges have been putting all of our stuff together and Dave’s bed is getting pretty close to finished.

The move-in to the Guy Phi Palace was successful, and our room is coming together really nice. My stuff is pretty much all set, put away and ready for the school year. Dave still has a ways to go and, because he hasn’t even set up his desk or anything. Our room has got a lot good space and it looks really good too. The wall behind the TVs is dedicated to Mizzou and is covered with all of Dave’s Mizzou memorabilia. (more…)

The Brooks Brothers Come To Town

So, I’ve been a lazy blogger lately, but do have much to tell. Highlights from the last 10 days or so: JC Reunion, Road Trip, packing/preparing for CoMO.

Our JC Reunion was great as always, although I would have liked more people to have been there. A lot of people could only stay on Friday night and then left Saturday, which was a bummer. Even though the most people we had there was like 15 or 16, we definitely had fun and enjoyed each other’s company. I’ve always said that it doesn’t really matter what we’re doing, we can find a way to have an awesome time no matter where we are or how many of us their are. (more…)

The Streets Will Run Red

Happy Hump Day, everyone. Another exciting day in the life of myself. When I woke up, I had my first breakfast making adventure in quite some time. I made scrambled eggs for the first time ever, and they were absolutely splendid if I do say so myself. I then made breakfast for my brother as well and a few hours later, he made hamburger helper, which was also very good.

I expanded my Call of Duty resume today. I am improving fast, and today I got an 11 kill streak, which allowed me to “call in dogs” after 7 kills, and Trevor informed me that Taylor had never been able to accomplish this before. So, I was pretty stoked that I was kicking some ass and taking names in COD. (more…)

Drink Your Fancy Ales by the Flagon

Hello, readers. Today was a rather (un)eventful day for me. I didn’t leave the house, but my brother and I found many various ways to keep ourselves entertained throughout the day. So, overall it was a pretty good day.

Although it is still continuing, we had a marathon of the Lord of the Rings movies. The Return of the King is still going right now, we just started it a little bit ago. I also watched a documentary on HBO today that was very interesting. (more…)

No Guile, No Game.

It’s Tuesday and I have done nothing for 2 days. Monday, my family returned from our “vacation” at the Lake. While we were there, we hung out a lot, ate out, shopped and we watched “Funny People.”

I got 4 new shirts at Polo, and I now have what you could probably consider a full Polo wardrobe. As for “Funny People,” it was probably the worst movie I have seen all summer. It was so bad, that I really can’t begin to describe it. (more…)

Neanderthals Developed Tools

So, I am going to finally start blogging. I had created this blog I don’t know how long ago, but I guess I’ll take this opportunity to begin.

I am supposed to be packing right now. I move out of my apartment at Gateway tomorrow, which was supposed to be today, which was supposed to be yesterday. Pretty good procrastination, right?

Lately, I’ve become infatuated with this TV series called “The Big Bang Theory.” In the show, two incredibly nerdy men in their late twenties, Leonard and Sheldon, share an apartment across the hall from a beautiful Cheesecake Factory waitress/wannabe aspiring actress named Penny, who is played by the gorgeous Kaley Cuoco. It is honestly one of the funniest TV shows I’ve ever watched, and thanks to MegaDownload.net, I have every episode of its 2 season, minus the season 2 finale, on my computer. (more…)
